There is a big dichotomy of opinions, and most professional advisors fall either firmly in the bear camp or the bull camp. There are not many advisors who are neutral. The bearish argument for stocks is that earnings are coming in lukewarm at best. While some companies are still seeing increasing growth in both profits and revenue, they are becoming fewer in number. Others are missing expectations entirely. But many that "beat" expectations are doing so on lower revenues from the previous quarter. In other words, revenues have reversed and are trending lower. Costs cutting has offset the decline in revenue to show profitable results. Thus you have a slight increase in profits on lower revenue. This is not sustainable... Read More      Bernanke's Words by: Michael Gayed Stocks rose to new highs last week, with the NASDAQ 100 having its longest winning streak ever on the heels of Bernanke's testimony and continued reminders that the Fed will stimulate into the foreseeable future. Bond yields fell as data on the housing front suggested that higher rates may be serving as a headwind, with housing starts and mortgage applications falling more than estimated. Higher gasoline prices and rising Oil for now seem to be largely ignored by investors as the U.S. stock market seemingly enters a euphoria stage regardless of fundamentals and disappointing revenue outlooks from large-cap companies.
