Happy Labor Day Weekend, friends -- I was on vacation this week, so there wasn't a whole lot going on here at Stock Gumshoe, but we did get a few things out for you.
It was a tumultuous market week in many ways, but I take solace in knowing that my portfolio is diversified enough, and my largest positions held with enough conviction, that I can happily let my portfolio sit with no action for a week or more at a time -- that is the calm investor in me, not the jumpy trader, though they do vie for position in my psyche from time to time. Maybe I'll be all a-flutter once trading opens again on Tuesday and the gyrations of this past week have settled into my brain, but for now I enter a holiday weekend content. I hope you're feeling the same way.
But what did we share with you this week? Well, I posted one new piece for you and then turned it over to a couple of contributors -- Doc Gumshoe and (for the Irregulars only) Myron Martin. My piece was about the "Boomer Index." This "index" is being pitched by Zach Scheidt as the "best investment in America right now", a way to profit from the aging of the baby boom generation. We look at that and explain what his "index" really is here.
And for the rest, just read on ...

World's Simplest Trading System? Respected trader gets scathing letter from frustrated newbie, giving him an impossible challenge. A really simple trading system? Less than 10 min a day? And for under $300? Can he do it? Click here to read the letter and find out! ----------------------------------- Our favorite medical writer, "Doc Gumshoe," always generates a lot of questions when he shares a new commentary with us -- this time, instead of responding to each question one at a time, he's posted a longer piece answering some of the questions that have come up repeatedly or spurred a lot of discussion in the last few weeks, you can see his latest piece here. We've got another piece from Doc lined up too, a follow-up on his Alzheimer's piece that should hit your inboxes next week (he's looking at individual clinical trials, so I may add some investment thoughts to that piece and restrict it to the Irregulars). And Myron Martin, who tilts at all the little resource stocks and other microcaps so we don't have to, submitted his latest column for the Irregulars about some favorite juniors on the move -- if you're in that exalted group of my favorite people, you can see his latest thoughts here. |
