Killing Assad is Not An Option

He's a high-ranking official of a G-7 nation, and has been involved in every facet of strategic discussions, including global security. In fact, he headed up his nation's efforts to secure borders after September 11.

We talked about Syria, the situation on the ground and the United States' plans to attack the country.

Typically, with a leader as belligerent as Syria's current President, Bashar al-Assad, the objective would be to remove him from power... by any means necessary.

But that won't work here.

While it would be relatively easy to off Assad, logistically speaking, such an action would come with its own set of negative consequences - namely, a power vacuum.
