Technologies didnt build, dont run or own the data centers. They were allocated colo space in the data centers via NYSE and take responsibility for those limited spaces.

indeed. and my point is not "about the crashes" as the media would (naturally) report. It is: the crashes show that algos print the tape. it's a different point than the standard news "take".

I've been thinking about this quite a bit lately and frankly think the word should be banished from the technologist's lexicon entirely. It holds us back, becoming a very convenient device to use as shorthand for "complexity debt collection." Indeed, as Kathy mentions above, it does provide a good accountability smokescreen.

Ivy, As always, great reporting here..I find it down-right amazing that you wrote this article about complexity WITHOUT penning the word "fragmentation". If this were a Mad-Lib(R) and we replaced COMPLEXITY with FRAGMENTATION, it would read the same.
